▷ this work is done by students in an introductory level computer art class
▷ covering a broad array of subject matter and techniques, the course teaches computer skills but also introduces aspects of conceptual foundations
▷ using illustrator’s vector drawing tools in lieu of more traditional methods, the project’s focus is on creating an expressive and representative portrait of an individual of the students’ own choosing
▷ emphasis is placed on the stylistically representation of the subject’s personality as well as successful use of the appropriate tools and methods
▷ rendering technique and editorial direction is at the discretion of the student, but development is assisted with in-class demonstrations, critiques and conversation
▷ as with other forms of illustration, photographic imagery may be used for reference, but none is included in the final piece
