▷ this clip is a documentation of the installation entitled thinking of you
▷ designed for activation by the interruption of an infrared beam located between
the white speaker tubes, this computer controlled piece sits idle until the beam is
disrupted by a viewer
▷ when activated the computer driven video plays through one video ‘greeting’,
then returns to idle
▷ the next activation triggers a second video ‘greeting’, and so on until the end of these recorded ‘greetings’ is reached, at which point the computer resets to the beginning
▷ the proximity of the speaker tubes to the viewer’s ears, coupled with the intimate, small scale video screen, creates a truthful and direct, if sadly clichéd, relationship between the content of the piece and the viewer
▷ impossible to view passively in any meaningful way, this piece deliberately places the viewer within the art, subtly but undeniably obliging them to be viewed while viewing
▷ the inclusion of the full-sized video clip in this documentation is intended to show more fully what a ‘greeting’ would look like when engaging with the actual piece
